Conference Report

BIT’s 3rd Annual World Congress of Petromicrobiology 2012 (WCP-2012) and BIT's 3rd  Annual World Congress of Well Stimulation and EOR 2012 (WSEOR-2012) were successfully held in Xi'an Qujiang International Conference Center on April 25-27, 2012. This year's congress has obtained highly focus and extensive attentions throughout the world. Honorable leaders and distinguished guests worldwide have come all the way to attend this conference. The conference has attracted over 150 participants inside and outside China to Xi’an. Meanwhile, it's our great pleasure to establish close relationship with the hosting organizations, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and People's Government of Xi'an, to ensure the excellent service quality and high profiles of the cluster conferences.

As the keynote speakers, Dr. Alan J Sheehy, Principal Scientist, Titan Oil Recovery Inc., USA; Dr. Xiaolei Wu, Associate Dean, College of Engineering, Peking University, China; Dr. Darrel W. Schmitz, Professor and Head, Mississippi State University, USA; Dr. David J. Boron, Supervisory Management and Program Analyst, U.S. Department of Energy, USA; Dr. Joseph M. Suflita, Professor, University of Oklahoma, USA have made excellent presentations and warmly discussed with the audiences at keynote forum.

Eight selected sessions covered 6 fields including Reservoir to Soil Metagenomics and Ecosystems Biology, Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery and Environmental Management, Novel Techniques & Methods of Bioremediation, Reservoir and Well Characterization to Management, Physical/Chemical EOR and Oil Well Maintain and Monitoring/Measurement Technique, Modeling and Lab Research. WCP-2012 and WSEOR-2012 brought together academic professors, industrial leaders, policy makers and investors to share their new research and achievements, warmly discussed and analyzed the sustainability development of Petromicrobiology and Well Stimulation and EOR. As the platform for exchanging achievements, industrial needs, getting more research opportunities and latest news of renewable energy, the conference has catalyzed the communication and cooperation of experts and scholars for their professional development and relationships.

After the conference many participants expressed their satisfaction with the content of the conference and brought away happy memories of Xi’an. We believe that WCP-2013 and WSEOR-2013 will be even better with the great support and constructive suggestions from all our delegates.
