Giant Panda Breeding Research Base

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding - The base was built in 1987 to protect the endangered Chinese “national treasure”. Now, it has become a research center with advanced world levels. The base has built Giant Panda Museum, Giant Panda Playground, Swan Lakes, Veterinary Hospital, laboratory and other facilities. Here, luxurious trees and verdant bamboos can be seen everywhere. It is an ideal habitat for giant pandas and other endangered rare wildlife.
Jiuzhaigou

Deep in the heart of the 4500-meter-high, perpetually snow-clad Min Shan Range, Jiuzhaigou Scenic Reserve encloses one of the most spectacular landscapes. It was settled centuries ago by ethnic Tibetans, whose fenced villages gave Jiuzhaigou (nine stockades gully) its name. And legend has it that the goddess Semo accidentally smashed her mirror here, the shards forming the hundred or so incredibly vivid blue lakes, which descend the valley in a series of broad steps.
 

Wuhou Memorial Temple
Located in the south of Chengdu, the temple is a famous historical site dedicated to the memory of both Liu Bei (161-223), Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280), and Zhuge Liang (181-234), Prime Minister of the kingdom. The temple encompasses 37,000 square meters, enclosed by red walls where there are spacious buildings shaded by towering old cypresses.

The title "Wuhou" was granted to Zhuge Liang, a famous military strategist of the Three Kingdoms Period (220-80 A.D.) was fictionalized in one of the classics of Chinese literature, The Tale of the Three Kingdoms.
 

The Charm of Miyaluo
Snow Mountain, bubbling hot springs, flowing waterfalls, bright autumn colors and local Tibetan and Qiang ethnic minority cultures – all this still can't fully depict the beauty of Miyaluo. The charm of the Miyaluo autumn is the 'yin' coming full swing from the bursting 'yang' of its spring season. An expedition to Miyaluo in springtime to discover the verdant mountains and blossoming peach orchards can feel like a fairyland visit – as the legend indicates – to "a utopia where the peach woods are in full blossom".
Situated 263 kilometers from Chengdu city, the Miyaluo scenic area is one of the country's biggest areas known for a seasonal display of striking red leaves. It is located in Lixian County, Aba Prefecture.

There are coral reefs and floating sea grasses.Visitors can also see ferocious sharks, big-headed flying fish, colorful tropical fish, and many other rare species from around the world. A highlight is watching divers feed and interact with the sharks.
Sanxingdui Museum
The unique Sanxingdui Museum is located in the northeast of the Sanxingdui remains, near the Duck River. It is a museum equipped with modern facilities. The whole design of the museum is simple, but with a solemn style. The flame is peculiar. The main object is a deformed spiral. It has the poetic charm with historical, geographical features and cultural art. It fully shows the broadness and profundity of Sanxingdui culture.
 
Four Girls Mountain
Among the Henduan Mountains, there are four adjacent peaks that comprise the Four-Girl Mountain Range. They are located in Rilong Town on the border of Xiaojin County and Wenchuan County in Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is 3,160 meters high above sea level and 220 km from Chengdu.
The Four-Girl Mountain (Si Gu Niang Shan) is covered by snow and ice all year round and is called "the Alps in the East". It is a scenic area at national Four-A level and has become a tourist site frequented by domestic and foreign mountain climbers.
 
Mount Emei
Mount Emei, located 165 kilometers from Chengdu, draws the most attention for its 154-kilometer spread, attracting tourists since ancient times with phenomenal views all the year round. Mount Emei is more than a big mountain to many people. It can also be a frame of mind, and not just because looking up at its monumental heights forces tourists to recognize their smallness. For centuries, the Chinese people have believed nature has a mysterious influence on man's character, and mountains supremely exemplify nature. Mixed up with this tradition was the ancient folk belief that mountains were the magical habitants of immortals.

 

Taoping Qiang Village
At the 170km west of Chengdu stands Taoping Village, home to the nomadic Qiang ethnic minority.The village is known as the “Ancient Oriental Fortress” for its aged stone houses and the two 9-storey hexahedral watchtowers of 30m high on the slope, which amazingly survived weather erosion, wars and frequent earthquakes for centuries.
The Qiang built their houses with stone, timber and mud without any painting on the outside walls, usually 5 storeys with a narrow wooden staircase. The fireplace is where the family and friends gather to celebrate weddings, birthdays and festivals.
    Dujiangyan
The Dujiangyan Irrigation Project in Southwest China's Sichuan Province represents ancient China's superb science and technology and is a milestone in the world's water harnessing and irrigation history. Dujiangyan, the world's oldest diversion project without a dam, still feeds a grid of irrigation canals watering 670,000 hectares (1,675,000 acres) of farmland in Sichuan, turning the province into the country's famous land of abundance since ancient times.
 

 

Leshan Giant Buddha
About 125 km south of Chengdu, the 71m-high Giant Buddha sits in a cliff overlooking the confluence of Min, Dadu and Qingyi River. A local saying goes: "The mountain is a Buddha, and the Buddha is a mountain". Legend has it that an eminent monk Hai Tong of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) often saw boats capsize in the turbulent river. Shipwrecks were a common place. Wishing to protect passing boats and calm down the rough river currents, the monk vowed to build a Maitreya Buddha. He made great efforts to collect the funds for the construction.
 

Du Fu Thatched Cottage
Located at the side of the Flower Washing Brook in the western suburbs of Chengdu, the cottage is the former residence of the famous Tang Dynasty poet, Du Fu. Within the building, from front to back, are the poetic history halls, thatched entrance, Gongbuci Temple, and Shaoling Stone Monument. Displayed in his study at the back pf the cottage are over 150 copies of various editions of his poems, The more than thousand books and paintings exhibited in Du Fu thatched cottage reflect his contribution to the enrichment of Chinese and world literature.

     
 

The Three Gorges
The Three Gorges region is a scenic area along the Yangtze River in the Hubei province of the People's Republic of China with a total length of approximately 200 km. The Three Gorges occupy approximately 120 km within this region. Although it is primarily famous for its scenery, the Three Gorges region is historically and culturally an important region in China. The Three Gorges region attracted attention globally due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, which is changing the scenery of the region.
